After much toil, along with with help from some good friends, I finally have a website!
This template also has a built in blog, so I may stop posting on this blog eventually. This is because I'm trying to centralize all of my promotions from one central hub, and that includes a blog.
Please check out my new website. I triple dog dare ya!
Been watching a few films lately and realized that they all featured the same dude, Peter Weller (Robocop, Leviathan, Buckaroo Banzai and Star Trek: Into Darkness)
A few of friends and I get together to play games on Saturday nights. Lately, we've been going through "New Super Mario Bros. U" and I've been doing a few drawings based on our experiences.
My friend Gabe kind of developed a reputation for throwing his fellow gamers (not always intentionally) into the lava.
I developed a reputation for mostly going through levels trapped in a bubble of my own self destruction.
We developed some "Mario Theology" from our friend Matt's attempts (via the Wii U GamePad) to help keep us out of the lava.
I recently got around to seeing Terry Gilliam's first film (apart from Monty Python) titled "Jabberwocky", which means that I have now see all of his films. It clearly is Gilliam's first movie, mainly because it felt awkwardly put together. The limited budget it was given didn't seem to help much, but the production team and actors did well with what they were given. It does have that Gilliam "charm" to it and I found it entertaining. Even though it was a clunky costume monster, I loved that they pulled-off the Jabberwocky creature at the end (great design)!
What I enjoyed most about this funny little film, were the costumes and wonderful character actors. I did a few quick sketches of the characters I liked most.
My wife and I collaborated on this. She wrote the dialogue and I drew the image. We finally saw the movie on Memorial Day and really wanted there to be a stinger like this after the credits but since there wasn't, we decided to make our own.
Back in 2001, my friends and I had all recently began our college years. So as a last "hurrah" before life took us our separate ways, we made a little film together. A homage to the black and white "atomic age" films.
We decided to make the ultimate "home movie" and the rules basically were: everything must be provided by items from our homes (camera equipment, props, etc.) and all locations must be in our homes.
We didn't have access to editing equipment, so based on the script, we storyboarded out every shot and sequence. All of our actors had stage experience, so they were great at memorizing lines and rehearsing actions. This was helpful because we filmed every shot in the order you see, rehearsing every angle till we had it right because there were no 2nd takes.
So sit back, relax and hopefully you'll enjoy this fun, silly little production as much as we enjoyed making it.
BTW - I have had some filmmaker friends who have found Shadowmask to be therapeutic at times when they are feeling discouraged about their work.
My initial character designs of Goldi and Papa Bear. This take on Goldilocks was mostly inspired by my daughter.
A background test for a Goldilocks interactive eBook I illustrated. This was to help figure out the color palette and overall "look" to the environments. The bears live in a 1950's lifestyle and everything in their home comes in sets of 3.
I provided all the elements, which Nation9 took, adding animation and sound. I'm very pleased with how they turned out! Hopefully the kids will like 'em.
A few years ago, I illustrated my first comic. It was a 118 paged graphic novel written by my friend Matt Wilson. Now you can get Scrooge and Santadigitally on Comixology! This a special edition version with updates and additions, such as new cover art and a bonus short comic.

Over a year ago, I was inspired by my friend James Harrington to create a webcomic. I don't mean that he urged me to create a comic, I was inspired by his writings and blog title to create a comic for which I coxed him to join me. Thankfully he loved the idea and threw tons of material at me, unfortunately I was unable continue working on it due to life/work getting busy and distracting. I was able to draw up at least 3 comic strips and will be sharing them for the next 3 posts. These were all drawn a year ago and the first 2 are really rusty, in regards to my drawings. By the third strip, I was finally getting a better handle on how to draw this comic. These have been gathering digital dust on my hard drive, so I thought it wouldn't hurt to share them with the world. If there is enough interest, maybe James and I can find a way to produce this series.
For now, here is the first (crudely drawn) strip of The Playtypus of Truth:
I realize I'm way behind in posting an update on the Detective Honeybear and the Mystery of the Terrible Llamas.
Incase you haven't already heard, the Kicktstarter was a complete sucess! Not only did we reach our goal, but we also have enough now to help us start a 3rd book! THANK YOU SO MUCH FOR YOUR DONATIONS!
These days, I am working hard to get all the pages for Terrible Llamas finished. It's taking a lot of time, but that's because I'm really trying to make this the best comic I've drawn so far. Since there is an expectant audience (something I've never experience before) I want this to look really good for them. Here is some of my conceptual sketches of the title features critters.
Hopefully, I'll have another update on this by early November.
Back to work!
